Adoption Request Form
If your group (church, school, service, or social) is interested in being part of the Adopt-a-Chaplain network, you can*!
First we need to know a few things about your group. Are you a church (or church group), a school, a service organization or something else? The reason we ask is to better match you to a particular chaplain. For religious groups, we try to find a chaplain with a similar religious background. Other groups are matched with branch of service, place of deployment or area of interest.
Here's the basic information we need from you.
*Being part of the Adopt-a-Chaplain network requires a monthly report to Adopt-a-Chaplain containing information on the number of boxes sent and their content.
- Groups may collect items and contributions for delivery to and packing at our Northern California location. If you decide to do this, we will enclose information about your groups and notes of encouragement that you provide.
- Groups in other areas of the country may pack and ship supplies directly according to guidelines we provide. Our "Mailing Guide for Chaplains" gives you the information you will need to pack and ship most effectively.
- School groups may wish to do fundraisers for Adopt-a-Chaplain. Car washes, for example, are easy events to organize and provide excellent results. Adopt-a-Chaplain can supply the template to prepare brochures for use with the event. Students may also find that involvement supplies them with "community service" hours.
- Local media will find this program worthy of coverage. We can help your group draft press releases and show you how to get maximum exposure for your events.
- We begin by providing you with the name, mailing address and e-mail address of the chaplain. Support of the chaplain's family, if that is desired, follows only after you have developed an individual, trusting relationship with the chaplain.
